How is Wolfram Language different than regular Mathematica?

What do developers think of Wolfram Language?

  • Prefer opinions from developers who have actually used Wolfram Language. http://blog.stephenwolfram.com/2014/02/starting-to-demo-the-wolfram-language/

  • Answer:

I have used Mathematica almost every day for the last 25 years. I use it exclusively for all of my scientific needs. Using it I have available to me over 2,000 built-in functions. If it does not do something I want, then I can program in any (or any combination) of the paradigms: procedural, functional, rule-based, object-oriented, and modular. The syntax is easy. Development is fast. Multithreading is built-in. It has an easy GUI-development system allowing for interactivity. I can post it on a web site (see http://www.madscitech.org/mathematica/consulting/consulting.html). There is also publication-quality document preparation. In the upcoming version there is device control and data acquisition.
