What degree do you have to have to become an Orthodontist?
-
What degree do you need? Do you need to go to undergraduate school? Can you become an orthodontist by going to the University of Arizona?
-
Answer:
ou must be accepted to an accredited Dental School/University. You must complete the requirements particular to your dental specialty. Thus, you must secure your dental degree whether a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), of Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD). Both are the same, there is no difference, it's just a matter of semantics. Most dental schools award the DDS, however there are some who award the DMD. Still, they are both equal. You then must sit for the dental license exam given by the official dental board agency who responsibility lies within your state.
