Does anyone know anything about Tongue reduction?

I have always talked a bit weird and have quite a long tongue and i think i causes it so i was wondering of anyone knew anything about it? thanks xoxo

I have an extraordinarily long tongue (we're talking like Gene Simmons from Kiss long) and have never had any speech problems. And in fact "tongue reductions" are not the answer to a speech impediment, normally speech therapy is used, much less invasive and less painful. There are a lot of different types of speech impediments so it's hard to say what yours is, but most of them are caused by misplacement of your tongue and not necessarily the size of your tongue. In regards to the surgery itself, it is generally reserved for people that have genetic issues that would cause a large tongue (like Downs Syndrome). From the information I could find online it doesn't look as if these surgeries have any effect on speech, they are done for more aesthetic purposes.
