Do I need a life jacket in a rubber boat on a California lake?

  • Answer:

Yes, you need to have life jackets for every one. In this case I would recommend that you get ones like canoeist and rafters use. AND wear them. It's not required by law in some cases that adults actually have to wear them, but some lakes will require you to wear them. Regardless of the law, it's not a bad idea. Your children should have child sizes. I hope this answer is helpful. I am encouraging askers to choose a best answer. Answers Boating allows you select one. If you like my answer you can select it. Good idea to wear a life jacket unless you have Gills and can breathe water as the fishes do .. A life jacket wont stop you getting Hypothermia in cold water , but as you stop shivering , dont feel the cold anymore , and drift into unconsciousness at the end , I think that is much nicer as a way to go than choking to death on water .
