No this is not true. If you married and have children you can live off post. They pay you some extra money for the rent and for the utilities, and the calculation made with your rank. Single soldiers I think up the rank E5 can stay off post. They also have gov. leasing's, I don't know they have this in Baumholder, there is everything free, except the phone bill. yea you can live off base, its up to you.... the housing office on base will have a list of approved houses - they control it so that you cant get ripped off - also the bah works differently - you get the amount of your rent - ( you have to submit paperwork to housing) then you get 500 euros for bills... its can be alright to live off base, but not always..... what kind of dog is it? because not all of the breeds are allowed in germany!.. just to let you know.... . if you have nay questions about moving to germany feel free to message me on myspace www.myspace.com/woodstock0485
