Questions about Germany ?

  • I might move to Germany when I'm 18 I have some questions Is German a hard language to learn? Is germany a free country like america if not tell me some laws that don't ...show more

  • Answer:

The first problem is that unless you are a citizen of a EU country you can not just move to Germany. German is not all that difficult for English speakers to learn, many words are similar, German grammar is another story. In some ways there is more freedom in Germany than in the US. It has jobs, to get one is the problem because you would need a work permit which you will NOT get unless you have some skill that no one locally available has. At age 18 I doubt that you do. And yes, it is a very nice place. Why not save up some money and visit.

If you're not an EU national, you won't be moving to Germany anytime soon. Any language is hard to learn if you don't put the effort in. 'Free like America'? Are you kidding me? America is the least 'free' country of them all. Regarding employment: if you are not an EU national, you will not be working in Germany as local nationals and then EU nationals come first. If you don't speak fluent German, you won't be working there. And if you don't have any useful qualifications, you won't be working there. And given that unemployment is rather high throughout Europe at the moment, you're out of luck. It's a lovely country to visit.

Well English is easier to learn, Spanish too, but don't let that keep you from learning German. Hebrew is much harder to learn than German. Yes, Germany is a free country. Of course there are laws, but I can't think of any that would come as a surprise. Don't steal, don't hurt anyone, don't drive when you're drunk, that sort of stuff. Available jobs: Well that depends on where you go. You might do a google search for "Arbeitslosenquote" (rate of unemployment) to compare various regions. It's easier to get a job in the South of Germany, but it's harder to find an apartment there.
