Are you an EU national? Because if you are not, you're going to find it very very difficult indeed, even if you do speak German. Non EU nationals are required to find employment and get their visas sorted BEFORE moving. If you travel to Germany and do not have a return ticket or proof you intend to travel on, it's very likely that you will be deported back to the US.
