How do you deal with rude and small minded people at work?

Why are the people are so close-minded and persecute graffiti artists for their work?

  • Answer:

Primarily because the "artists", and I use the term loosely, usually deface someone else's property, not their own, and without the property owner's consent. Therefore, it's not called "art," it's called vandalism. You want to do something like that, do it on your own property, or in your own house. I'm sure your parents would be proud to display it on their house.... And you're right, they shouldn't be persecuted, but they should be prosecuted.

I don't think most people would mind graffiti artists as long as they did their art on their own property. Its when they vandalize public property or other peoples' property that I (and I would assume others) take offense. You probably wouldn't like it either if I came to your house or some place that was built with your money and "decorated" it in my style either.

Because graffiti artists are too often indiscriminate about where they put their work, not checking with those who own the property they are working on. If artists and neighborhoods got together some really neat things could be done.

I'm an artist, can I come over and spray paint all over the front of your house?

you do not exist

Well, I guess it's like this....You are right when you call some of these people "artists." Some of the graffiti I see here in Pittsburgh is really magnificent....well conceived and executed. But if you owned, say, a house or business inside a city, do you really want someone exhibiting their art on the side of your building? As good as a lot of it is, if I wanted a graffiti artist's work on the side of my structure, I would engage one of them personally (and pay them for it as well)....and just like publishers, I wouldn't be interested in any unsolicited work.

Because, the windows of my office and my garage door are not a canvas. If they continue to put their "artwork" on public and private buildings they will continue to be persectuted.

I don't persecute them, I think some are very talented, however, I think some are vandals, pure and simple. If I don't ask someone to put their "art" on the side of my building, they are vandalizing it. So, I wish they would find more appropriate places to display their art.

Because most of the time it is done on buildings or trains or underpasses. this is not where people want to see it. You're trying to force something on people that they don't care to see.

because in most cases they do their work on other peoples property.
