http://www.flickr.com/ As many others have already said, is a good option, it has a lot of amateur and a few professional photographers on it. I'd also recommend http://www.deviantart.com/#catpath=photography this is the photography section of deviantart, there is also a stock section if that's what you're looking for. You can browse individual photographers galleries, most popular photographs and newest photographs. (as well as other kinds of art in the other sections.)
