You may want to consider a degree in (or studying) illustration. There's tons of options for that. My husband and I both have degrees in it, and are always swamped with all different kinds of work. Anything from drawing coins (quarters, pennies, etc) for the mint, designing video games for Disney, oil paintings in galleries, decorative paper (and stamps, and stickers) for Target, scrapbooking stuff for WalMart, illustrations for children's books, and magazines. Oh and teaching at universities or other shools. Those are just the things we're currently working on right now. Like I said; we keep busy. ;) Go for it. You'll love it. But you have to be dedicated, and be able to promote yourself and work hard.

Besides the obvious Artist (painter, sculptor, musician, etc) there are many fields/ careers that can be used with an art major: Art historian, art critic, art teacher and or/professor, museum curator, art appraiser, gallery owner, interior designer, fashion designer, art director, art therapist, copywriter, layout artist, animator, caricature artist, architect, cartoonist...there are SO many options...be creative, productive, ambitious and promote yourself. Being an artist takes a great deal of dedication, but it is worth it. Good luck!

that's about all..o and teaching...art is like music is like any other form of expression it's what you make of it...it takes a degree of talent and then it takes an incredible amount of perseverance to get what you want and to become successful. It's a way of life not a 9 to 5. So if you don't feel that passionately about art presently I don't recommend it...but if it's all you do and are not happy without it then it's your true love and you should pursue it until you die.

crisis
