  • When you makee a picture using dots?Lol kinda hard to explain...! Umm kinda like this: http://www.mrbsblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/vincent_van_gogh_16.jpg When you make a ...show more

  • Answer:

Vincent didn't do Pointilism, which, strictly speaking, is made up of dots of pure unmixed colour. What he liked was thick paint put on with those strokes that show up so well in your illustration. I would call the application of the paint 'impasto', which means thick paint like paste.

if its in ink its called stippling if in paint its immpressionism

The type of art in context to using small dots is Pointillism, the reference image "Self-Portrait with Felt Hat (1887-88)" by Van Gogh, Post-Impressionist uses more like short brush strokes style, http://www.vangoghmuseum.nl/vgm/index.jsp?page=2081&collection=1285&lang=en http://www.auralaura.com/felthat.html it is in reference to pointillisms, as Seurat's style but more so Divisionism of Signac's technique and uniquely Van Gogh's own version of the style of that time, http://www.brown.edu/Courses/CG11/2005/Group161/History.htm http://www.impressionniste.net/neo-impressionism.htm Paul Signac http://artchive.com/artchive/S/signac.html Georges Seurat http://www.artcyclopedia.com/artists/seurat_georges.html ..

Its called Pointillism and Van Gogh uses very expressive gestural brushtrokes to emphasive movement.
