There are a few avenues you can try, they've helped me: There is a book called, Virtual Poser. It comes with a cd you can put on your computer. It is very helpful in drawing anatomy from many different viewpoints. I've even seen a second version. You may be able to find it at Barnes & Nobles, or whatever bookstore is close to you. Also, you could try google images. I have found a lot of photos on there that helped me. You can look at sketches, but photo references work best. Another alternative, if you are up for it, is to get your butt out of the house and just go and sketch people: real live people who live around you. I see so many artists, especially in the comic book and animation industry who can draw real well, but when it comes to people they always get elbows and joints wrong. Or they never learn to draw real anatomy, only the over exaggerated arms, legs, and bodies they see from comic books and fantasy art. Get a mirror and practice drawing yourself. Spend a whole day just drawing your hand in different ways, different positions. You may even be able to go to a local school, and they have models who come and you can draw them. I think you have to pay for classes, but some places allow you to go for free. If you're really serious and commited, then it won't be a problem. Good luck.
You probably should invest in a book or maybe even think about taking a class. Most sites that offer portrait tutorials require their users to pay for most of the services. Not too long ago I looked into this and I couldn't find any good tutorial sites. Sorry. :( But like I said, you should really consider investing in a book, at least. And if you're serious about your art, you'll probably want to take an art class or two.
