The easiest language to learn is the one which is used the most. If you're going to Delhi, for example -learn Hindi. Everyone will speak it and it will be easy for you to pick it up. If you go to Chennai, for instance, then learn Tamil, because everyone will speak it and it will be natural for you to learn it. If you are Sinhalese and your language belongs to a Dravidian language group like other south Indian languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, then naturally you might find loads of familiar words in these languages so it will be relatively easy to learn. However it's not the rule. Usually the easy language for you is the one you like. For example, I am from Eastern Europe and for me it took 12 years to learn English while I learnt Hindi in 4 years due to liking it more.
