  I'm sure you mean "sites," not "sights." I think to see battle "sights," the war would still have to be going on! That said, Munich was the seat of the Nazi party and is not far from Nuremburg. As "American Guy" said, much of the fighting in Bavaria consisted of British and American air raids. Only at the end was there ground fighting. Some of the most dramatic was the capture of the region of Hitler's vacation home above Berchtesgaden. The mountain community is known as Obersalzburg. You can actually spend the night in the inn that was next door to Hitler's house! Ol' Adolf's house is long gone (it's a mound with trees on it) but you can see the retaining wall and parts of the terrace, and some enterprising amateur archeologists have excavated some of the front steps. A small reception hall on top of a nearby mountain that was built as a birthday gift for Hitler remains intact. It was almost blown up at the end of the war, but since Hitler had a fear of heights (and was claustrophobic) and thus hardly ever visited it, it was spared. Near the site of Hitler's house is Albert Speer's architectural studio. He was Hitler's architect and chief master planner for the redesign of Berlin. Across the street from Prof. Speer's studio is the Gutshof, which was an experimental farm. Today it is a golf and skiing club. An interesting website is www.thirdreichruins.com.
