it really depend what you want to buy. if you plan to visit victoria harbor and ave stars is free, the only cost for you is disneyland, and ocean park, and the ticket to macao. My suggestion, when you arrive in HK, you need to find a store, that sell disneyland and ocean park ticket. If you buy in there you will get 20% - 40% off. You will find a lot of place in Mong KoK of Hong Kong. The disneyland and ocean park will cost you around 1,000. HK dollar. ( It should be cheaper, but i'm not sure, because the time you go is Chinese New Year, everything you go really expensive). If you want, you may want to book the ticket online first, otherwise it will be crowed in HK. Transportation, the best one you should use is metro, HK people called MTR, when you arrive in HK, in airport, you can buy a octopus card, which you can use for most of the transportation and stores in HK. You might want to put at least 150 HK dollars in the card, so you can use them. If you have money left, you can save the card and use it next time. Macao, you will need to take a ship to go, you may want to bring around $500 HK dollars when you visit Macao. All the clothes or anything you want to buy in HK is no TAX. You may want to bring at least $ 2000 HK for food, clothes, or any others you want to buy. Again it really depend what you want to buy, if you want to buy a phone, or any electric buy more. Or if you just want to have fun, and walking around, don't have to bring a lot. But remember when you going oversea, have more money is better than not enough,

Welcome to Hong Kong, the Pearl of the Orient and also the shopping and dining paradise! A recent CNN poll confirmed that Hong Kong is a must-visit destination. Its stunning Victoria Harbour view and The Peak have just been rated as Asia's No.1 skyline by a Japanese TV Station There're many nice places to shop and to see in Hong Kong which is renowned for being the shopping and dining paradise. You can eat like a billionaires, in the same token there're many affordable places with unbelivable prices. For instance HK has the cheapest MacDonald's prices on earth. A Cantonese wonton noodle soup is only around HK$12 - 15 depending on location, a fried rice is around HK$20. A popular Chinese fast food chain all over the city, the De Coral Fast Food, with set meals under HK$30. Buying brand names is among the best buy in HK since there's zero sales tax nor import tariffs, most brand names are 10% - 50% cheaper than anywhere else in the world. These shops accept credit cards so you dont need to worry bringing too much cash. Street vendors or flea markets is another interesting shopping paradise, they have all sorts of products selling at knockoff prices, eg the Ladies Street, the evening Temple Street vendors, Stanley Market, etc. Street vendors do not accept credit cards, depending on how many stuffs you want to buy, I think it shouldnt be over HK$1,500 as most of the stuffs there are way below HK$100. For instance a nice casual jacket is only HK$100 cash. Everywhere in Hong Kong is well connected by its efficient and timely public transportation system, the MTR (subway), big and mini buses. Cost is from under US$1 - $2 per ride. Star Ferry and the Tram that runs across the east-west of Hong Kong Island is only HK$2 per trip. If you like exploring on your own, simply follow the map, people on the streets always happy to offer directions. Check www.DiscoverHongKong.com and have a wonderful stay in a wonderful city!

5 days 4 nites u stay here in HK. ok.... but 14-16Feb = our public holiday. the chinese new year....so probably some of the shops wil closed. n most of the attractions such as disney wil be stucked w people. so the symphony...is just a laser show. u can view it on both sides of the harbour. but i wil said on kowloon side better. the best location wil be in front of the space museum. it's free so u needn't prepare $ 4 that. just that go earlier to get a better standing location wil be fine. during CNY, u hv to chk ur htl's concierge n c if they stil run the show. n usually, we wil hv hugh fireworks by the hrabour on the 2nd day of CNY which = 15Feb this yr. dun miss out! to the disney, that wil be HKD$350 per adult 4 the admission. ocean park.....about HKD$200 to enter. transportation....always by MTR.....clean & fast. fr nathan road u wil get down to the jordon station or yaumatei station. duno which 1 closer to u. anyway, fr that station... u travel to Lai King & shift a train towards tung chung --> when arriving sunny bay station --> shift the disney mickey train to disneyland. n to ocena park...MTR --> admiralty --> out to the exit of oceanpark shuttle (they wil clearly indicate inside the station). then take the shuttle to the park roundtrip. routes & charges... chk out this link http://www.mtr.com.hk/eng/train/system_map.html to macao... it's v v crowded during CNY to go there. not a wise choice...maybe u sh go on 16Feb (or afterward) so to avoid the crowds. as everyone coming back on that day. boat's tix wil be like abt HKD$340 per adult roundtrip. http://www.turbojet.com.hk/eng/home/index.asp the boat runs 24-7.... so u dun hv to stay macao overnite if u aldy rented hotel in HK. just come back as late as u wishes. in macau....all the casino(s) had their free shuttle travelling between the pier & their own hotel. make use of it! n taxi not expensive there...... mostly aro HKD$30 or below w/i the city. food is not expensive in HK n macao. unless u go to those v highclass 1. a normal meal in some local restaurants wil be abt HKD$50 in a set. inclduing a cup of coffee or tea.

Hi! I went to Hong Kong a few years ago but wasn't in charge of the money. I went for longer than 4 days so it's hard to say. If you want to go shopping i'd bring a reasonable amount that you'd spend on bits and bobs. Obviously you need money to travel, so i'd take a good amount just incase and then when you travel for the first time, you'll get a rough idea. -------------------- Roxie
