Income tax in France?

What's the income tax rate in France for a visitor?

  • Hello, I'm a British academic coming to work in Paris for a year. I'll be earning around 30,000 Euros per year. Can someone tell me how much tax there will be on this please? ...show more

  • Answer:

Sophie is right. Just to add to that : 1) Social security tax is quite high in France; expect to pay about 15% of your gross income 2) Income tax in France depends on your family situation (simply put, the more children you have, the less tax you pay). It's much more complicated that in the UK and I suggest you get help to do your first tax declaration (which will be in Feb-March).

If you're a British citizen I'm not sure that you'll have to pay something to the French state but I might be wrong...
