I'm starting to wonder who started that urban legend that to get into the Louvre you need to be European. The Louvre is a public museum, opened to all, and you all pay the same prices. Students price, full price, third age... The only restriction I ever saw was the need for a recognised student card to get the student prices. The only legally recognised ID in France are: Identity cards, passports, driving licence with a picture. And frankly, walking with your passport in an inner belt under your clothes is less dangerous than leaving it at the hotel.

In order to "loose" your passports, you're going to have to eject them on purpose. Don't do that. No. You do NOT have to prove you are an EU citizen in order to get into the Louvre. Are you SERIOUS? You think the only people who can get into the Louvre are EU? What about the rest of the world? THEY can't get in? You DO realize that's what passports are for, right? To use as identification....
