Where are the best campsites in northern France?

Can anyone recommend campsites in France where you can take your own tent?

  • I have been looking on google, but all the campsites seem to provide you with a tent or caravan. We are looking to take our own tents with us.

  • Answer:

Apart from the seaside campsites during the school summer holiday, there is normally no need to book. All towns have Municipal Camp sites which are very good, and usually well situated. A pitch for 2 people starts from €5 per night,, depending on season. Search for the towns you wish to visit and get prices and further details from their official tourist info sites

I think the other commentator is correct--most sites will NOT provide a tent for you, you'll have to have your own. Be advised that many sites close at the end of October, even earlier is some areas (esp. in higher elevation areas). http://www.campingfrance.com/index.jsp?lg=uk

I couldn't find a site giving all addresses, but you can google the French sites by typing the following : camping tente France That will cut out all the expensive bungalow rental sites. I found this site for the south of France, they rent tents but you can bring your own. http://www.camping-rhonealpes.co.uk/medianet.asp
