    Actually French kids do not like snails, and baguettes are just something they get every morning for their breakfast, for their packed lunch, so it is not a very special treat. Yes, they would love pancakes which are special treats, choux and profiteroles for dessert, and tarte Tatin too. When they come back from school they eat a "casse-croute" which is a specially made prepacked thing which consists of two square thick biscuits sandwiched with one another by a layer of chocolate paste or thick fruit jam. Teens are not so keen because at that age they become conscious of their figure and cut out snacks between meals. I do not think you have them in America, though.

Baguettes. I know it is the biggest, most overdone french stereotype round, but seriously. EVERYONE IN FRANCE LOVES BAGUETTES. Like you can walk down the street in Paris, or in a small rural town, and see people with Baguettes in hand, sticking out of their backpack, in their bike basket, etc. It's madness, and pretty funny, but hey, baguettes are good! If you wanted to step up your game a bit (and probably get a better mark) you could make pain au chocolat (I think that means chocolate bread). I couldn't tell you the recipe, but basically it is a chocolate pastry. Most bakeries in France make them, kids love them, and they are fantastically delicious. I'm sure you could find a recipe online.
