Answer:
I notice that you are hiring a car in France, not taking your own vehicle from the UK, so that compulsory things like a triangle will be provided by the hire firm , beam deflectors will not be necessary as you will be driving a French car, nor will you need a GB sticker since the car will have a French number plate. You are not obliged to have a fire extinguisher or a first aid kit for France, unless you intend to cross the border to other European states that require them. British driving licences allow you to drive in France provided you are above 18. In theory you are supposed to have both parts of your licence. If you have already hired the car and paid a young driver cover it means that your licence has been accepted as it is and you are insured as part of the car hire package. You must be able to produce your licence and proof of hiring should you be stopped by the police. You have to have a reflective vest in the body of the car for yourself. I keep one of those net ones in the glove locker. You only need a second one if you have a passenger with you, and an additional one for each other passenger travelling in the vehicle; those can be kept in the boot. You can get further information about driving in France, safety tips, etc... on this website: http://www.rac.co.uk/travel/driving-abroad/countries/france/ Safe journey and bon voyage!

No. Your UK licence is all you need. However, you need to check with your insurer that your policy covers you to drive in France. Most do but best to chesk. You also need to carry all your vehicle documents with you and have a whole bunch of other stuff in the car. Fire extinguisher, first aid kit etc.

I am American citizen. I've been driving in France for the last 4 years using my Michigan driver license. The only way you need to get French license if you get 10 years residency. I renew my residency on yearly basis, therefore, I am still using my American license. GL
