Will my US debit card work in France when I go on vacation?

  • Im going to France and I want to know if im able to use my US debit and credit cards in other countries, or should I use cash

    You need to call the customer service number on each card and ASK. Also, they need to be notified you are traveling or some automatically block your card because they think it was stolen. Most places do not want to be bothered with travelers checks any more..too much trouble.

Going to France next week so I visited my Bank and was advised to have international Banking validated before I enter France. It depends which Bank you do business with. Never had to validate international Banking before, so check with your Bank before leaving. No cash, if you lose your money? you know the answer. Just take some cash not too much.

Your best bet is to contact your bank in the US BEFORE you travel and ask them. Do it in plenty of time before you go so that you can get a new card if necessary.

Major credit cards, yes. Debit cards, sometimes, ask your bank. Use travelers checks for MOST of your funds as they are safer than cash.
