  • Answer:

Ryanair flies from Nottingham East Midlands Airport to Dinard. La Roche Derrien is about 150 km from Dinard... Or you might as well take a ferry to Lannion, but in any case, you'll spend at least the whole day travelling!

I haven't been to Brittany but understand from friends who have a cottage there that it is beautiful, They actually drive and say that is the best way. I have driven to the French Alps in the ski season and found the French roads absolutely brilliant. It is much safer than driving in the UK. People over there seem a lot more patient and laid back. I am sure you will enjoy the drive but you will definitely enjoy your holiday. Good luck! Why don't you make the journey an additional part of your holiday.

Fly with Ryan air to Dinard., They don't go to Brest any more. Flybe I believe go to Brest & Rennes.Easy Jet may have flights not sure. The cheapest way to take a car is to sail from Dover to Calais with Sea France or Dover Bolougne with Speed ferries. Its approx 6hr drive to Brittany. Brittanny ferries sail from Portsmouth to St Malo[Brittany] or Cherbourg & Caen[Normandy] the drive to & from Cherbourg is horrid Also look at Condor ferries they sail to St Malo via Channel Islands takes approx 41/2 hrs LD lines sail from Portsmouth to Le Harve[Normandy] Brittany is lovely with wonderful coast line & scenery. A bit biased have a house there.

Brittany ferries sail into roscof (9hrs sailing from Plymouth). Not too difficult to get to from Leeds. I managed to drive down from Edinburgh towing a caravan in 10 hrs. Driving in Brittany is a piece of cake, the roads are excellent and also pretty quite. Not sure about flights but I'm sure they won't be cheap!

Well you could fly, but I;m not good on that (have a look at ryan air, they seem to fly almost everywhere); if you want to drive down there you'll want to drive to plymouth or Portsmouth; get a ferry from there. Brittany ferries sail to; *Cherbourg, not actually in Brittany, but its pretty easy to drive *St Malo; probably your best bet, around 8hrs sailing time but will get you into Britiany, and the town itself is a popular tourist attraction. You could train down there, both Portmouth and Plymouth have fast trains from London; probably cost a bomb, national rail enquiries can suss that for you. on the other end, the French rail, SNCF has stations at both St Malo and Cherbourg; I'm sorry I dont know about busses in that area. Have a great trip

I go there every week-end as I am a Briton myself. I just swim from Portsmouth to Roskof! But it's easier if you take the plane to Rennes or even Nantes! Bon voyage!
