    The black population in Paris is very big, given that many people immigrated to France from the former french african/west indies colonies. Cultured and open minded french people treat them with respect and to be honest it is unlikely that you will feel any sort of racism. However bear in mind that the current government has a anti-immigration policy and there are lots of police controls taking place, you may be asked to show your papers (carry them all the time). Unfortunately they do tend to pick on coloured skin people. As long as you remain courteous you should be fine, I mean idiots exist everywhere.

This is a very interesting question. I am not a native Parisian and most certainly am not in a position to give a proper answer. I leave that to the many excellent true Parisians to respond. However, I do not believe that Africans are treated "horribly". Of course there are vast differences with the situation of African-Americans in the USA. In France many, if not most of the people with African backgrounds still have ties to family members in the African countries. In the USA, these family relationship practically do not exist. (This has changed somewhat with the quite large influx of students who have come to the USA)._.
