There's also the Air France bus which goes from CDG to Gare du Lyon - it's really easy as the bus stops are marked on the ground outside the terminals - on the bus, announcements are in English and French and it costs 15 euro single. Buses run about every half hour.

He can take the RER (train) from Roissy to Gare de Lyon it takes 40-50 mins. There is a free bus (navette) from the airport to the station. He can then take the RER B and change at Chatelet-les-Halles to the RER D and its one stop to the gare de lyon. x
