What are the best things to do in Paris?

  • Planning a trip to paris...what should i do there?

  • Answer:

One day : go the Notre Dame - ty to do it on a clear day - go up in the belltower, look at the gargoyles, great view of the city towards the Eiffel Tower. After that, go to Ste Chappelle, also on the Ile de la Cite - its fantastic. Then cross over to the left bank and walk to the Place St Michel to have lunch at a su=idewalk cafe. Plenty of souvenirs there as well, lots of Parisian foot traffic. You can then head towards the Eiffel tower/ D'orsya museum. Watch sunset from the Eiffel tower. Go up before the sunset and you'll get a bird's eye view of everything in Paris. Get a museum pass and visit the Louvre and D'orsay several times - see something different each time. Go up to Sacre Couer and then wander around the artist's square. You can see the artists at work - pf course, a lot of what they do is based on having tourists buy it, but its still fun. You can also find artists along the Seine, I've gotten some pretty nice pieces doing a river stroll. Also a pretty good view of the city from up there. A river boat tour is an interesting view of the sights on the river - at night everything is lit up and pretty. Go to a concert at one of the cathedrals - the acoustics are amazing. There are signs plasteredon walls, especially near the Sseine and tourist areas of the upcoming events. For the Macabre, visit the catacombs. Pere Lachaise cemetery is an interesting place to wander about. many famous people buried there. In addition to jum Morrison, nit the easiet to find, Oscar Wilde, Gertrude Stein, and other luminaries are buried there. You will probably walk by a funeral in action as well. Very different from our pristine cemeteries here. To get a view of unimaginable luxury, take a day trip to Versailles. There is a fountain show on Sundays. The parks are as amazing as the buildings. Or visit the Napolean rooms at the Louvre, or the opera house. Go wander about the Sorbonne area /latin quarter in the evenings with the students. Go wander about the Ile de St Louis and have lunch one day. Its the oldest part of the city and has no cars. Go to the flower market on Sunday morning near the Notre dame, near the metro station. Have a picnin in the Tuleries or on the grounds of the Louvre. There's a small pond near the louvre where locals rent small boats for the children to push around with sticks. In the summer the gardens are beautiful. Other gardens would be Luxembourg and the Jardin du Plantes. The Rodin Museum is interesting if you have time. the house and gargens are nice, and you'll asee many, many copies of the Thinker, plus a Van Gogh and other paintings that Rodin traded with his friends. The Eifeel tower is lit u at night and very pretty to look at or stand underneath and spin. There is a carosel nearby if you feel playful. take a couple of hours and sit at a sidewalk cafe and watch the city go by. P{ace St Michel and Champs Elysees are good places for this. Go window shopping in the fashionable area near the Opera. Unless you have a LOT of cash, window shopping is the best you can do, altho in the latin quarter i have found some reasonably priced fashion statements. Check out the shoes on the people walking around you, made me wish I could buy all I wanted. Sorry, got a little verbose, but i do love that city.

I know!........ I don't know, because I've never been there. Just look up some places first to see if there is anything you like to do. Make it worthwhile! Go to the top of the biggest building and yell "I'm on top of the world!" Oh and try to make sure no one sees while you do that cause you'll probably go to jail.
