Is lyon france a safe place to visit?

  • im going to lyon france this summer to visit my gf and i just wanted to know if france was a safe place to travel i know bad things happen everywhere but is it safer than most places?

    Its generally safe but there are large portions of paris designated red zones by the police in these areas its mostly muslim immigrants and they are very hostile to native french people and other outsiders and since they are red zones there is no police presence since they always attack police. so i would reccomend avoiding these areas. lyon is pretty safe but it is close to marseille which is another city populated with aggressive immigrants. it is mostly the youth in my interactions with the older generation, they have a high degree of respect.

Lyon is one of my favorite places. While there are fewer English speakers, the people are, on average, open and welcoming. And, with Interpol headquarters in the city, how bad can it be? Seriously, we've wandered the city late at night and have never had a problem. Bonus - the food is even better than in Paris.l The Rules: Make an effort to speak the language even if its "bonjour hello" when you enter a shop or restaurant; and remember you are a guest in their country. All will be well, and may romance blossom.
