What are the "Posh" areas in Paris?

Which areas in Paris would be safer not to go to?

  Paris is generally a safe city as far as violent crimes are concerned. There is petty crime, such as pick-pocketing, but that usually happens in the most touristy areas (even inside the Louvre), and on the trains/metros. There are districts that are unpleasant, such as Pigalle, it's because of the people hanging out there, but it's still safe -- of course, you still wouldn't want to stay there. Good areas to look for accommodation include, but not limited to, the Opera Marais, Latin Quarter and Saint-Germain. Locations such as Bastille, Montmartre or Montparnasse are a bit further from the center and have more of a local feel, they are also good quarters.
