    Parisians do wear shorts, but it's mostly for leisure activities. Even then, the amount of people who wear shorts is not as great as the United States. I wouldn't recommend wearing them if you plan to go into nice boutiques and dine at restaurants (some places may even refuse to serve you unless you wear pants). Just to let you know, cargo shorts scream "tourist".

Alot of people wear shorts in Paris,as its mostly hot, you'll see male and female both wear shorts, 3/4 lengths, mini shorts (on girls). Thing is it rains unexpectedly in Paris and heavily so shorts ain't always the right choice, but people still wore shorts.

Shorts are not banned in Paris and are worn by many people - mainly tourists from other countries! Parisians, and the French in general, really only wear shorts at the beach or in beach resorts. It's not considered a good look in the city.
