What part of the Louvre Palace is the Louvre Museum?

If the Louvre Museum is closed, does it still put on it's light at night?

• The Louvre is closed on Tuesday.. but we wanted to visit the exterior of the Museum at night to capture it's beauty. Does the museum put on it's lights even if it is closed?

  YES absolutely... It's probably a great idea to visit during day/evening on Tuesday for some great photos. Crowd's smaller and it's very atmospheric at/around the pyramid entrance as well as the vast Tulleries garden in front of the Louvre. And... in addition to the Louvre, you'd want to visit the Orangerie museum right in the Tulleries. It's within walking distance from the Louvre. It's a smaller, very intimate, contemporary, recently renovated museum that houses a great collection of impressionists. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit there. 1-2 hour would do.. as opposed to 1-2 month to fully know the Louvre! :)
