I read your question twice to see if I had missed something.. You start by saying (we) are moving to France, I am sure you realize that moving from the USA to France is not not going from New York to New Jersey. Unless you have a visa to study there, own your own bank or have a skill that no person in that country possesses , you can only visit as a USA citizen for a maximum of 90 days and after that time you are not even allowed to visit other countries that belong to the European Union. I certainly .suggest you save up your funds and visit France as a tourist and get to know about the country, its people and its culture.. It would be highly advisable to begin to learn at least the most basic words in French. There is a basic misconception held by many in the USA that most French speak or understand English. You will find that is not accurate. France is the largest country in western Europe, with more than 65 million inhabitants and with more than 30000 cities and towns. You will certainly be able to find places just like your dreams, but you cannot stay there permanently. Best of luck to you.

France has thousands of small towns and villages. However, your real problem is that as Americans, you can't just up and move to France simply because you want to. There are certain conditions you would have to meet, and you certainly won't meet them if you have just finished secondary school. Find a small town in the US - there must be thousands - and move to one of those.

As reinaldok_2000 and Orla C said, it will not be easy to move to France. But in case you manage to do it, you didn't say what kind of town you want to go to. There are a lot of kind of towns. For example the land towns in Alsace have different kind of houses and landscape than in Brittany or in the South. There are land, coast, mountain villages, ect...

Loads of places. I used to travel through France every summer on holiday for three weeks. I used to drive past the cities and stay in the little villages where everything is cheaper. Look at the map and study the geography. I like the Cote d'Azure in the south of France, but you can find quint little villages anywhere, including the wine region. Make sure you learn some french though because they don't speak a lot of English in the small places and they stare at foreigners.
