Hotels.com has some cheap hotels on offer or hotelcomparison.com, i was researching a break for myself and the bf over the last couple of weeks and after checking countless websites these seem to be the cheapest. the further out from the city centre the cheaper but you can always hop on the metro and that will bring you straight into the city As far as spending money goes....you need a fair bit, everything is expensive over there, but if you eat in places like 'Flunch' , go to free attractions like the Sacre Coer,and some of the free museums you can keep costs down.
