Answer:
Well, how much money you should bring depends on what all you want to do. Grab a guidebook or pull a chair up and surf the 'net and see how much certain things will cost. I will recommend ordering Euros before you depart. The exchange booths are horrible. The last time we went, we could not find a decent exchange booth at all. Order enough Euros to get you through 1-2 days (let's just say, $200), and then rely on using a debit/check card and hitting up the ATM once you arrive in Paris. Although, if you do decide to go with your debit/check card, make sure you alert your bank that you're traveling overseas or they can put a freeze on your account. Also, most vendors don't like to accept foreign credit cards for anything less than 15 Euros. I'm not familiar with the Renaissance Vendome Paris, but it looks quite nice. The metro stop is the Tuileries Metro, which is a hop, skip and a jump from the Louvre museum. You could just walk to the Louvre and the Musee d'Orsay. The Rue de Rivoli is right there and has a ton of souvenir shops. Best place to buy your souvenirs. Another great place is near Notre-Dame Cathedral. Those two areas have the best souvenir shopping. Also, near Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Cafe Quasimodo is really good and really inexpensive. Whereever you go, you'll encounter tourists. But, a sort of off-the-beaten-path park to explore is Parc des Buttes Chaumont. It's very pretty, but so are all of the gardens in Paris. Catching a performance at the Opera Garnier is a lot of fun, too. Esp when you can get box seats for the event. Luckily, all restaurants/bistros/etc have their menus posted outside the establishment. That way, you can decided if you want to go in or not. The best cafes are the ones you just happen to stumble upon. The Maya, which is located in the Republique area, is wonderful. Nestled in the midst of Montmartre is La Bonne Franquette. It is located directly across the street from the infamous Le Consulat. We went to La Bonne Franquette on a Saturday night and they had interesting entertainment. Watch out for the amorous accordian player. The food court at the Louvre is actually pretty nice, as well. Be sure to hit up the stellar crepe stand. There are many wonderful restaurants in Paris...Fouquets on Champs-Elysees, the restaurant at the Eiffel Tower. You can also dine at the Moulin Rouge before you catch a show. If you check out Cityrama, they offer several tours where you can let them do the dirty work by making reservations and escorting you there. Some offer a nocturnal tour. You can also get an introductory busy tour of Paris with Cityrama. Their offices are located on Rue de Rivoli. Exchange some Euros before traveling overseas. It will make things run much smoother. I know Bank of America will do this for you. The best option for traveling the city is via the Metro. Get a Carte Orange. You can get the Carte Orange at a major Metro ticket booth. You'll need a passport size photo for it though. Otherwise, you can get a carnet of metro tickets. It's about 12 Euros. Check out Barnes and Noble and look at all the Paris maps they have. It all depends on what works best for you. You can get a free Metro map from the metro station and the hotel. They hotel should have Paris maps as well. Check out Rick Steves' Europe Through the Back Door. The man is a travel guru. His Paris book is top notch. Also, on his web site, you can download the tours (Paris, Musee d'Orsay, Versailles, etc) and various walks to your iPod, therefore reducing your bulk. The Buddha Bar is pretty groovy!

Wow! So many questions! I'm going to give you some data so then you can calculate the money to bring by yourself. A meal costs 12/15 Euros in a brasserie. In a restaurant it is around 25/35 Euros. Each trip by metro is 1,30 Euros. Museum are 8/10 Euros each. Instead of an hotel I would suggest you to rent an apartment and possibly on Montmartre. Here is the link to the site of the company I have used for the past 5 years to rent apartments in Paris. They have apartments everywhere in Paris but especially on Montmartre. http://www.paris-apartment-rent.com/index.html On a good restaurant I suggest you Le Precope in Saint Germain, very good traditional French cuisine. A good brasserie is Victor Hugo in Place des Vosges. The best place to exchange currency is your bank in your country of origin. Metro is the best way to travel in Paris especially because the car traffic is really jammed most of the time and because of this taxi might cost a fortune. A nice bar to visit is Buddha Bar near Place Concorde.
Best thing to do is to purchase at least one good guide book and research what Paris has to offer. I liked the Unofficial Guide to Paris as well as Rick Steve's Paris Guidebook. Going to sites like Booking.com, Venere.com and Tripadvisor.com will give you real people's reviews of hotels, restaurants and attractions. If possible, I would only bring a couple of hundred in Euros and put the rest on a CC or debit card. You could also pull money out of the ATM. Much better than walking around with several thousand in cash.

I can answer some of your questions. The Metro is the best way to travel. You can get a multiple day pass that will save you money. Just be sure to check out where the train is going before you get on. See if your hotel does exchanges, some times they give the best rate. Since the Euro is trading at a higher rate than the Dollar is is going to cost you more so whatever you plan for add an additional 20%. And you can go online to the various attraction web sites to find out what the current admission rate is and their hours. Notre Dame is free but you have to pay to take the bell tower tour, but it's worth it for the view alone.

hi, I am not sur I will be able to answer all your questions but I am gonna try, First of all I think I will bring about 100euros/person/days, restaurants, bars, night out and shopping, but well it very depend on your budget but I think 100euros will be find for the museum you can get a pass "the paris pass " (http://www.parispass.com/) and for the metro it is the same. I suggest you to go to the marai for some nice restaurants, shopping and bars, it is very trendy and fashion ! For hotel, well, I never went to any hotel in Paris because they are very expensive and for most of the time and the same prices try to rent a studio or even a flat, try Lodjee ( http://www.lodjee.com/ ) they have good prices and wonderfull apartment. I usualy take the routard, the lonely planet or the viamichelin for guide Good luck !
Well, the cheapest way besides walking that I can think of is the metro, and that isn't exactly cheap. For a pocket guide, I like Lonely Planet but that's a personal opinion. Moneywise, keep in mind thay you're going to nee to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You're also going to want money for transportation, museum passes, and souvenirs. I stayed in the 16th district which had almost no tourists. It was a very nice, local, Parisian neighborhood with lots of cool restuarants. It doesn't have much in terms of sights but I thought it was beutiful and it would be interesting if you want to see what the locals live like. You should reseach online for other cool nieghborhoods. Well, thats really all I can help you with. Have fun!!!
