Can you recommend any vegetarian restaurants in Paris?

Taking my girlfriend to Paris for a romantic weekend. Can you recommend any restaurants and/or hotels?

  • I have booked our travel but want to be able to be flexible regarding accomodation....so would like to have a lot of little hotels I could suggest, maybe a different one each night! ...show more

  • Answer:

the Hotel Muget, near Rue Cler is a very nice place. Walking distance to the Eifel Tower and Hote De Invaleds. Rue Cler is a very typical Paris neighborhood. Pedestrian only street with markets for your needs. Many wonderful restaurants near by as well as the metro. Paris is best enjoyed by walking and finding your own adventure. Everyone will share theirs with you, but take a few steps and make your own memories. That being said take one of the boat cruises on the Seine to see the city from a different perspective, at night or sunset is very pretty.

Speaking as a woman...no way would I want to trudge around changing hotels each night. Pick a place and stay there. You probably won't be in the hotel that much anyway. For food...I love lunch at Les Canons des Gobelins outside the Gobelins metro station. The Panini Rome is very tasty. At dinner, I really like Les Philosophes in the Marais and l'Alouette on rue de la Glaciere in the 13th. Also, all along rue Mouffetard in the 5th (Quartier Latin), there are cafes that are very good. I ate in several different ones during my study abroad trip a few years ago. One thing I really like about European restaurants is that they post the menu (called "la carte" in French) outside the building or in the window. You can stroll along, looking at the menus to decide what appeals to you at that time. Since I happen to be the world's pickiest eater (I'm not joking about that!), the menu being posted means I know before I go inside that there will be something for me to eat.

I can't imagine that trudging from one hotel to another, baggage in tow, is a particulary romantic thing for you to be spending your time doing. Consider the Hotel Left Bank St. Germain at 9, rue de l'Ancienne Comédie in the 6th arrondissment. Its very well located and quite lovely. You can read more about it here: http://www.paris-paris.com/hotel_left-bank_saint-germain.php Look at the "special offers" prices. They have double rooms including breakfast and taxes for as little as 130 euros which is well within your budget. If you do stay there then the Procope which is right next door is the oldest restaurant in Paris and has been operating in the same spot since 1686. http://www.blanc.net/procope/ Another pleasant place to eat is La Methode at 2, rue Descartes just a few blocks from the Pantheon.

If she is a Sex and the City fan take her to Kong, most romantic restaurant in Paris, overlooking Pont Neuf. This is the famous restaurant that Carrie went to when she was in Paris. Buddah bar is also a great experience.

Did you try Venere.com for hotels? Sometimes they have some great deals... and they also have B & B's... But I wouldn't switch hotels - just pick one & stick with it (it's a lot of work to switch for a girl!). For our first visit we saw: Eiffel Tower, the Louve Museum, did a boat cruise... In general we just walked around a lot & enjoyed the scenery... You can buy a 3 day Metro pass too - which will make your life a lot easier!
