Any ideas for a memorable birthday in Paris?

I'm taking my girlfriend to Paris for her birthday anyone got any good romantic ideas on a budget?

  • Answer:

Just walking along the Seine is romantic...poking around in the antique book stalls, wandering through the flea markets, pick up something small as a souvenir. Buy crêpes at a street vendor. Wander through Nôtre Dame, Sacré Coeur (both free, I think). There are museums galore! (they can cost a bunch) Romantic, pretty parks...go window shopping in the Quartier Latin

Have a sandwich on the steps of the Sacre Coeur at night. (price of a sandwich and soda) Sit at the base of the Eiffel at night when all the people are gone..watch it twinkle every hour (free). Kiss her in front of the Mur d'Amore at the Abessyse metro stop (priceless). Buy some chestnuts from one of the street vendors and eat them on the footbridge thats between the museum orsay and the tuillereries gardens (cheap). Walk along the Promenade Plante (an elevated abandoned railroad now planted with trees/flowers near the bastille)(ffree) . Go put flowers on Lady Di's unofficial memorial..it is a replica of the statue of liberty flame near where she was killed.Go to the Statue of Liberty that is in the middle of the river downstream from the Eiffel. Get a balloon ride at Parc Citreon (bookoo bucks..). Go to Jim Morrison's tomb and take a picture of her/yourselves (Pere Lachaise graveyard). There is a little hole in the wall hamburger stand which is slightly west of the Anvers metro stop..run by some Arab guy..it has an upstairs all rustic/rickety with a t.v. and you can see the traffic go by from the open windows. Hit the free museums.

The great thing about Paris on any sort of budget is that it's small enough to walk everywhere. There are great dinner cruises on the Seine or even greater tiny bistro restaurants in the back streets. If you don't want the crush of the Eiffel Tower try climbing to the top of the Arc de Triomphe http://www.arcdetriompheparis.com/visitor-information

follow my motto; Keep her away from Champs-Elysees! Try the Louvre, the Eiffel tower, any of the cathedrals, and Jardin de Tuilerries. It's like Jardin de Luxembourg except less crowded.

Trust me! There is nothing romantic about the Eiffel Tower. It's just a bunch of people waiting in line to get on a crowded elevator to have your ears pop. Yes, it's a good site, but don't plan on it being super romantic like in the movies. Unless you have a ton (and I mean a ton!) of money and you can rent out a floor on the Eiffel Tower... I think your best bet would be a romantic dinner cruise. There is music, fantastic food, and lots of dancing. If you go on the Seine River, you can have a romantic on the bridge afterwards.

A dinner cruise on the seine would be very romantic! I've done this and I've seen a lot of couples do this. Also, if you want to visit the Eiffel tower it's best you buy your tickets in advance online. You can print out your tickets for a specific date/time and you won't have to stand in line for 2 hours, but just be there on time and walk straight in! This is the official site where I've also bought my tickets when I went to Paris in July: http://www.eiffel-tower.com/preparing-your-visit/buying-your-tickets.html There are tons of nice romantic restaurants in Paris as well, but it's expensive. The Champs-Élysées is not very romantic since it's a very very busy shopping street but a must see. Then there's the Louvre Museum, Notre Dame cathedral.. very touristic (not really romantic) but if you have time it's nice to check out. Have fun.
