It does not matter, because you can't get one. What does matter is: 1) A Best Buy credit card is only for someone who already has a credit history 2) If you try to get a Best Buy credit card, it will be denied, because you don't have a credit history, and your credit score will go down, because you tried to get one

1) best buy does not offer a CC it is a branded card from citi meaning best buy gets paid every tine you use the card 2) effect of a CC is the same no matter who issues it

Most major retail store credit cards will report to the major credit reporting agencies (TransUnion, Equifax and Experian), which will help you establish a credit history. There are several factors that affect your credit score, (length of credit history, amount of credit being utilized, on-time payments, etc) so you may see a slight temporary drop in your credit score if you open the Best Buy account and charge the maximum to it, since your credit utilization will be high at the start. However, you should see your credit score improve and potentially increase over the next several months as you pay down the card since the length of time that you have had credit will increase each month, the amount of credit you are using will go down with each monthly payment (as long as you don't charge more later on) and you'll establish a history of paying on time. All three of these factors will do much more to improve your credit score in the long run than the potential slight decrease from opening the account

It's always best to avoid store cards, the high interest just doesn't make them a good deal. If you are signing up for a special no interest for 6 months type thing, be sure to read all the fine print as if you miss a payment or are late 1 day, they go back and charge their high interest rate from the beginning. I've reviewed lots of store cards, and I haven't found one yet that makes sense. Look at the interest rate before you apply, most of these cards are around 22%. I would strongly recommend that you check out www.creditcardforums.com before making a decision. The card can help your credit score, but it won't make any difference if you buy a $10 each month and pay in full or if you owe $600 and pay interest. Also if making payments and you miss a payment, you can hurt your credit more than you helped it. I would encourage you to search for a major credit card or maybe a student card if you are a student as these normally have better terms and some give cash back which is nice. You might also look at a bank or credit union for a personal loan, just something to think about.

Yes it will help. If approve you will be given a credit limit if this is your first credit application you might get denied if you do get approve you will be given a credit limit but make sure it's enough to cover your guitar. You don't want to max out your credit card because that will hurt your credit score and other lenders will see this and you'll become a risk to other lenders ,
