I want to get my friend a betta fish for her birthday, what should I include in the gift?

A small tank with a filter. They usually sell a full small set-up for about $20. [This will include: gravel, plant, filter, ect.] Betta- Food- A small fish net- A water conditioner- Maybe a small pamphlet on Betta care- And top it with a bow!

maybe you should ask her parents first. she may not be allowed any pets.

That's a cool idea. You should get her a tank for the fish, too. A 2.5 - 5 gallon tank is best. Much better than the little containers bettas are usually kept in. Get a little bottle of cheap water conditioner, the smallest heater you can find and a book on betta care. If you really want to do it up right, get her a little bag of gravel or pretty stones or marbles or something to put in the bottom and a little silk plant. A small filter is optional but it's always best to have one for any fish (yes, even bettas!) You may be able to find a little 5 gallon tank kit with the heater and filter all included. If you get all this stuff she will be sure to have one happy betta! It may sound like a lot, but it's not really all that expensive on this small of a scale. I got myself a betta to take to work and everything he needed to be happy for less than $30.00 at PetSmart.

basic needs for a betta fish is a tank (preferably with a filter but not to worry if this isn't within your price range) some food, a small plant and maybe some kind of orniment to make the tank look nice...but thats all you really need hope i helped Xx-Emily-xX xxx

a gallon bowl or more -- depending on how much you want to spend some water conditioner to remove chlorine a little bag of gravel and a fake plant/castle or whatever food maybe just a gift card to the pet store would be a better idea.

I have had several Betta fish in the past and I think that with your gift you should include the fish tank, a couple of rocks and throw in some artificial plants to go with it to and I am sure that if she is a pet friendly and fish friendly person she will LOVE IT!!!

An important rule when buying people gifts: NEVER give them a pet. They didn't get to choose it, so there's not that starting connections. They may not want it. Parents might not want pets in the house...etc Don't force a pet on someone. I know you've got good intentions and it's really sweet of you. But might I suggest finding something else instead?

for a beeta she'll need a couple of items like water conditioner to kill clorine and hevey metals, a tank at least 2.5 gal. decorations, and a filter(optional) you'll also want to tell her how to care for the fish like 25% water changes every week or so. and to follow feeding instructions and how the water conditioner works, and other basic knowledge and remember to TELL HER NO LIGHT AT ALL SUNLIGHT OR HOOD LIGHT WILL KILL THE FISH.and good luck
