Il De Re or La Rochelle?

  • Answer:

I stayed in both (back in 89, which was a long time ago, granted), and honestly don't feel that it makes much difference, for the following two reasons: 1) I would think that architectural beauty is likely to be lost on a 2-year old anyway, unless of course your son is exceptionally prodigious and mature for his age, and 2) the distance between the two is short enough as to allow for easy access back and forth. If anything, I would think that playtime in the water might be more enjoyable to him than anything La Rochelle or any other city has to offer, but then of course I could be wrong. I hope my two cents' worth helps. Have fun regardless of what you decide. EDIT: FYI, La Rochelle and the Île de Ré are located not in the Île-de-France (Paris and surrounding metropolitan area), but in Poitou-Charentes.

"L'île de Noirmoutier", in Vendée. Very nice place in summer. But you can try "L'île d'Yeu" (Vendée too), but a little savage...Quiberon, in the Morbihan, is well.
