Where are the ears of an ostrich?

Birds (with feathers) have ears, but where are they located ?

  • Answer:

The majority of birds have their ears in roughly the same place as we do except they don't have ear lobes just the holes. however owls have one ear slightly higher than the other. this is used like a radar and can pinpoint exactly where their prey is depending upon when the sound hits which ear first. Coincidentally, the "ear tufts" on top of many owls heads have nothing to do with their hearing, these act more like eyebrows and tell you what mood the bird is in.

The ears are located near the eyes on the sides

Silly-Junos

Birds' ears are located on each side of the head, behind the eyes, and under the feathers. If you lift a bird's feathers behind it's eyes, you will see a "hole". that is an ear.

Oddly enough, the same place our ears are, on the sides of their heads....they too are cover with feathers....for example, under the cheek coloring on cockatiels.....they are there, there is just no flaps of skin like with other mammals.

As everyone has said, birds have tiny holes on the sides of their heads. Some birds (possibly all birds) like cockatiels also have sensors that can dectect vibrations in the air. This is one of the reasons cockatiels do not like deep noises (even if they arn't loud ones).
