Just get you A.S.S. down here and see for yourself. It's like that guy said, if you have money life's good, if not life sucks.

Hot and sweaty. If you have money life is good, if you don't, life sucks.

I would suggest you go to Natal or Pipa in Rio Grande do Norte instead of Salvador, in Bahia. Right now the police and fire fighters are on strike in Salvador and my cousin who lives there couldn't leave a shopping mall someday last week because street kids were in a gang stealing everyone outside (arrastão). Last time I was in Bahia I was dissapointed because the governor isn't doing anything about cleaning the streets, preserving historical buildings and providing security. My uncle suffered one of those fast kidnaps (sequestro relâmpago) in Guarajuba. But if you really do want to go to Bahia I did have an excelent time at Costa do Sauípe, a closed resort, just last year. Also, there are very annoying street vendors near the Pelourinho and Mercado Modelo who just don't understand the phrase "no, thank you". I really love Salvador, my family is from there and lives there, but now it not a good time... it has been better. So I suggest Rio Grande do Norte to you because Last time I've been there (not that long ago) it was paradise. Blue warm sea, very nice people in a friendly environment, great hotels and resorts and lovely rides through gorgeous beaches with white soft beautiful sand dunes. Paraíba is also excelent and near Rio Grande do Norte so you can visit both.

To understand the life in Brazil, you should at first understand its culture. And taking into account that Brazil is such multi-cultural country, the life there is pretty interesting and definitely hot:)
