Is it safe to travel to Brazil?

Is it safe to travel alone in Sao Paulo, Brazil?

  • I love Brazil and am planning a trip to Saopaulo...but I need to know if it's safe for to travel alone there; and, is english understood by most people there?

  • Answer:

after you get out of the international aiport is hard to find people that speak English, and it is not as dangerous as you might think. São Paulo is a business city, with a lot of good neighborhoods. you should go, you will find a way to communicate, people like to help. =)

It is safe, but as in any large city, you just have to be careful. Do not manipulate money in public, keep your wallet hidden, don't go to isolated places alone. But you already knew that... Those advices are the same for New York or Moscow. I live here for almost five years now and I really recommend the visit. Unfortunately, you will have some trouble if you don't speak Portuguese, so try at least to learn some basics in one of those language books for tourists.

Generally speaking, you need to watch what you are doing in any big city. There is nothing extra bad about this city.
