How can I find out more about a Yahoo member?

How or where can I find Yahoo! member search?

  Best Answer - Chosen by Voters Yahoo has done away with the old style of searching for people and has taken a much more limited approach at things. Where you used to be able to search by multiple criteria, you are now limited to searching by either a Name, or an Email Address of someone you already know. You can do this by clicking on the tiny "Find" link located in the "Connections" section of any new Beta profile, including your own. Yahoo's member search has had problems for the past 5+ years as it was. This due to the advent of Yahoo Personals. Yahoo realized that more of the business from their Personals venue was getting sucked up by people performing free searches in the Member Directory, and starting friendly conversations with the members marked as "Single" or "Single and Looking," etc. that turned up during the search. They started by shutting the directory search off on the weekends (a time they deemed that most singles would be seeking others), and grew to searches returning 0 results on a more regular basis; most recently 100% off the time. There have been numerous complaints by people in the yahoo forums about this, and just as many complaints that Yahoo never responds to their inquiries. Who knows what Yahoo has planned for the new Face Book ripoff and it's search capabilities, but for now, the Member Directory is a piece of Yahoo history.
