    I love how you say you know your ^%$# when it comes to sound only moments after saying you want to spend 500 on a POWERFUL home theater system. You don't know your &^$#^. And Bose sucks. I recommend dropping the 500 on a Denon AVR791 receiver, or a Yamaha RXV 667 receiver or a Pioneer 820 receiver. Leave the receiver in it's box in your home and wait for the next paycheck to buy ONE speaker. By the end of a couple of months you will have a POWERFUL home theater system. Speaker recommendations: Front left and right: Polk TSI300 Front center: Polk CS10 Rear & Side channels: Polk TSI100 Subwoofer: Klipsch SW450 14 Gauge Monster Speaker Wire Monster Subwoofer Cable Monster Quick Lock Banana Plugs This will all run you about 1600 in the end. Only after all that will you know your %^#@ with home theater.

For $500 Dollars your not going to get the most powerful system nor the most modern but relatively speaking check out this one...the Jamo S606 HC.....Most major brands are getting a way from the all in one deals of the past and today you must buy each speaker separately to get the best sound...I would look into building a system around 4 Dayton B652's and a Dayton center channel or the Polk M10 plus Polk sub....or possibly a system by BIC or Boston Acoustic... that you design to keep in your price range....
