Answer:
Im sorry but it doesn't make sense to ask questions whats the best but I only want to spend 3 to 4 hundred. I understand your trying to find the best projector in your price range but lets keep it at that. The truth is don't waist your money there are no good projectors in this price range. Between the cost of a projector and screen (which is a must for even a decent picture) your realistically looking in the $1500 plus range. Kevin 40 years hi-end audio video specialist

Projectors are very expensive in comparison to a TV. If you only have a $400 budget, then you will be better off buying a TV. What you will get with a $400 projector is: Low lumens: This means the projector bulb will be pretty dim, which in turn means that you will have to have a nearly pitch black room for the picture to be clearly visible. Any ambient lighting will cause the image to look weak and washed. Limited inputs: Most projectors in this price range are designed for office presentations and other tasks where a great picture isn't necessary. They typically have limited input capabilities which increases the need for a audio/video receiver (something more than a cheap home theater in a box system). No audio: Even the cheapest of TVs have built-in speakers. This isn't true at all for projectors. The only way to get sound from most projectors is to connect a stereo or surround sound system. You can get away with having a Home Theater in a Box system for sound, but that might not be enough for the input problem that I mentioned. Poor quality picture: I projector of this price probably isn't going to give you a very good picture over more than about 50 to 55 inches. While this is certainly bigger than any TV you can get in this price range, it's not as big as most people expect to get when buying a projector. I would also like to point out that with a projector like this that has a dimmer bulb, you really need a glass bead projection screen. A glass bead projection screen reflects more light and reflects it more evenly than any painted wall. This helps counter the fact that the bulb is dim. Unfortunately, a decent screen costs about $200. So after paying $400 for a projector, $200 for a screen, and $200 for an AV receiver to allow you to connect all of your devices, you are out about $800 and still have a fairly crappy picture. For $50 less, you can get a nice 46" LCD TV like this that will have audio, and will have plenty of inputs to choose from. You also do not need a pitch black room or a $200 screen. http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&biw=1251&bih=590&q=lcd+tv+50%22&wrapid=tlif129548544959310&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=708918157454377170&ei=ImA3TbfwBsT58Ab9irmpBA&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=7&ved=0CKcBEPMCMAY#

Stay away from brands you never heard of, no matter how tempting the price. You might find something worth buying in that price range used on eBay. Below is an excellent link for anyone new to projectors that is considering a purchase. http://www.projectorcentral.com/buyers_guide.cfm
