I want to buy a home theatre system for my husband on his b'day, any suggestions on good ones?

check out yamaha website. they have pretty good home theater in a box set ups or if you want to do it all seperate i picked up a yamaha 6.1 reciever for 250 yamaha 6.1 speakers for200 and i have a cheap panasonic dvd player i paid 100 for and the sytem rocks the whole house with low bass and clear mids and highs and i could always upgrade or add whatever i want on it

You are a good wife for doing this for your husband. I agree with sirbobx. Try to buy separate units. That way if your husband wants to upgrade any of his equipment he can do so with out having to get rid of the whole unit. Meaning a powered subwoofer, separate dvd player, separate receiver and speakers. Good luck
