Digital TV recording?

Recording digital tv?

  • I want to be able to record digital tv onto a VCR (which i'm currently using) I understand I can get a digital tv recorder to record tv programmes and then 'back-up' ...show more

  • Answer:

You will be able to use VCR to record programme currently being viewed, assuming TV has SCART out options. I have a twin digital tuner hard disk based recorder. Either the current channel or a recorded program can be passed to my old VCR via a SCART lead. I can't copy from tape to hard disk. Hard disk to external DVD disc recorder should also work.

Other answers

If you get your signal over the air, you will need to get a digital tuner and then plug your VCR into the digital tuner. If you have cable or satellite you will not have to do anything. Your VCR will continue to work, however you might want to consider switching to a DVD burner as the DVD's take up a fraction of the space, can hold much mord data and you can get a standalone player for under $100.
