How do I record from dvr to my vcr?

No more VCR's how can i record show with out a dvr?

  • with the vcr's not made any more and I don't have money for digital cable that has dvr on there is there any device to record shows that is a free service

  • Answer:

The nearest functional modern replacement for a VCR is a DVD recorder, although these the major difference in use is that DVD recorders tend to lack tuners. You could get an older model Series 2 or TiVo HD that includes a Product Lifetime subscription. A series 2 will require a digital box for digital channels, a TiVo HD a cablecard. You could build a DVR with a PC, with a tuner card or capture device, plus an IR blaster to control your cable box (some tuners come with IR blaster and remote control).

If you really want one, you can still buy a VCR. that said, with cost in mind you should look at TiVO. It was the original manufacturer of the DVR which is so popular today. You can buy a new state of the art TiVO for less than $150.00 USD (about what you likely paid for your last VCR). You should keep in mind that DVR's are like anything else electronic. The more you are willing to pay the more you are going to get.

Your simplest and cheapest option would probably be to buy a device called an Ezcap or Easycap. It is a simple device that will record your T.V screen onto your computer. Try this link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Easy-Capture-Adapter-Wins-Vista/dp/B002H3BSCM
