How do I get recorded shows on your computer?

Is there a way to get the recorded TV shows off of a DirecTV DVR and put the video on a DVD or on a computer?

  • I have a direcTV DVR and I am almost out of space. Isn't there some way to get shows off of there and move it somewhere else?

    You may wish to check out a software called DVArchive. It allows you to network your Replay unit into a PC so you can down load the shows to the PC. I've used it an I love it. I can now view the shows on my PC. Not sure if it works with DirecTV DVR.

If you don't want to put it in your computer then buy a dvd recorder from best buy or ....just hook up and record then later when you want to edit then use the computer. I have dish and a dvd recorder and I just record the shows or movies and watch them later or sometimes I edit and put on youtube. I have a liteon dvd recorder from bestbuy rihgt now they run from 90 bucks and above and can record any format.

You could try getting a Component Video Input Device (if you computer has a firewire port) for your computer then hook up the DVR to it. Then get a program that records the inputted video and transfer it that way. Otherwise you'd have to get a DVD writer, or use a VCR if you don't mind VHS.

well im no expert but since nobody else is answering. Theres no extra storage. You just have to get rid of something if you want to be legal. But just sayin... you can record it the same way you would any other show on tv. You'll just have to let it play and record it onto somethin. I know this isnt exactly what you were talking about but i hope it helps!
