I noticed that my computer was regularly freezing, so after a few forced restarts, eventually, the monitor did not recognise any input. The computer doesn't beep, the motherboard ...show more

Answer:
Sound like the graphics card. Might be worth reseating it. However if you're not getting a beep at all on startup - that could indicate motherboard failure (although check that your internal pc speaker is connected first)

The motherboard should beep once, even if it's very quietly, when you turn i on. It's the computer's way of telling you everything's ok. I'd take your graphics card out and try turning it on without it. See if it beeps once then.

Yeah, it's your computer that's broken. That has happened to my computer and we got a lot of monitors, but it was just the computer.

the Graph card shouldnt need a fan unless its huge!..it may have a radiator on it? Maybe your drivers are out of date? or try holding or tapping delete or F2 when it boots up after a crash...this will enter you into the BIOS screen..once in the bios check the hardware monitoring section ( if there is one) and see if your hardware is over heating. its possible your PC may stop if your processor or something is overheating or corrupted etc...some Pcs have hardware monitoring set to ON to protect your Pc from damage! Check if the Nvidia notes pop up on re-boot..if so, your card is detected. your monitor sounds fine! If you can get into windows, try looking in:- Start- >control panel-> System- >Hardware->Device manager. Find display adaptors and update the driver if possible. Failing that, if you have a recovery sector in your hard drive, try that...your windows disc needs popping in to try this i think..... you could also do a full destructive installation to clean out your Pc but thats desparate! GOOD LUCK! Mj

Try re-loading your operating system, if you have the disc. Ignore the first repair function, go onto re-load, it will then ask if you want to repair. Say yes. Good luck.

Yes. Do u see atleast some change in the montor signal? I hope the monitor power light blinks. Nothing wrong with your monitor. Doing anyone of them could resolve ur problem. 1. take off ur RAM and clean the slots and the RAm. If possible try it in a different slot. 2. Reset the CMOS by either jumper or refixing the CMOS battery If these doesn't solve ur prob. I'm sure that ur mother board has a problem. U can replace the motherboard alone.. This will definitely solve ur problem. Call me @ +91 9790909503 . I will help u fix it..

Sounds like your disc drive but all is not lost if you are willing to pay someone to recover data.. another option is to try starting in Safe mode e.g Starting your computer in Safe Mode is often one of the only ways to regain control of your system after a crash, virus or spyware attack. All versions of Windows from Windows 95 on (except NT) offer safe mode which bypasses drivers and startup programs that Windows normally loads. Windows usually blocks you from deleting any files that it is currently running (such as malicious software), meaning that safter mode may be your only way of deleting adware, spyware and virus infections. To enter safe mode, you need to coax Windows into displaying the startup menu. Depending on the version of Windows, this menu offers at the minimum Normal or Safe mode ( Figure 1 ). Some versions let you go into safe mode with networking, command prompt, command prompt with networking, or normal with logging ( Figure 2 ). These other modes can also help when debugging problems. Getting the menu on the screen is done two ways, either by a hot key which you start pressing during boot time, or using the System Configuration Utility (MSConfig) . Windows 95 and 2000 do not contain the MSConfig utility, so you're tied to the hot key method. There's actually a third, but not recommended, method to get into safe mode – turning off the power without properly shutting down Windows. With this method, you almost guarantee going into safe mode, but run the risk of corrupting files. Normally to get the menu to display, pressing the F8 key after powering up. You may have to do this from a cold boot, if it doesn't work from a restart or warm boot. Some systems may signal a specific time in the boot sequence when you should start tapping the button, such as a small line or square in the upper left corner of the otherwise black screen. With Windows 2000, press and hold the F8 key when the white bar appears at the bottom of the black screen. If your BIOS is set for 'quiet' mode, you probably won't see it. Some early versions of Windows 95 may respond to hitting the CTRL key instead. For Windows 98/Me/XP systems, you can use the system configuration utility (MSConfig) to display the startup menu at every boot. To use MSConfig, click on the start button, and then click on Run. In the Run text box, type MSCONFIG and press enter (or click ok). The MSConfig utility will come up in Windows 98/Me as depicted in Figure 3 . On the main screen, click on Advanced ( Figure 4 ). In the advanced dialog box, check "Enable Start Menu". Press OK and exit. When the system prompts you to restart, select Yes. When your system restarts, it will now display the startup menu first. If you don't click on anything in 30 seconds, it will automatically continue to a normal boot. If you did something such as pulling the plug without shutting down first, it will go to safe mode by default. For Windows XP, the MSConfig screen will look like Figure 5 . If it isn't already there, click on the BOOT.INI tab. Click on the "/SAFEBOOT" checkbox and click the OK button. When the system asks you to restart, click "Restart". When Windows restarts, it will be in safe mode. To restart in normal mode, reopen MSConfig, select the BOOT.INI tab, and uncheck "/SAFEBOOT".
