  • why QWER.... not ABCD...

  • Answer:

The letters are arranged on the keyboard in such a way that the letters that are used most often can be reached the easiest when the typist's hands are on the home row.

Back a Few years ago BC (Before Computers) there were typewriters. Manual Typewrtiers. Because of the design of the keys and the way they came up and hit the paper they would jam if two came up from the same direction when you were typing fast. They were arranged in a semi-circle facing the center of the page. The "QWERTY" keyboard was designed so the key levers would not jam.

It's the QWERTY system aka Dvorak's worst nightmare..

Old manual typewriters needed to have the common letters to strike from alternating hands so that the little hammers that jumped up and hit the paper would not cluster and stick to eachother. They tended to stick when they came from the same side. If you've never seen an old-fashioned typewriter, it's hard to explain. the cadence of fast typing should be left right left right left right... not random or left left left right right right...

THE CHAP WHO DESIGNED IT, DIDN'T GO TO SCHOOL MAY BE ! BUT TECHNICALLY SPEAKING CERTAIN LETTERS ARE ARE MORE FREQUENTLY TYPED THAN OTHERS, FOR EXAMPLE "e" IS THE MOST REPEATED LETTER. THE KEY BOARD WAS DESIGNED TO MAKE THESE LETTERS EASY TO REACH WITH BOTH THE HANDS,

In 1966 the first alphabetically keybord was made by Duorak Dealey for IBM it had 86 keys. But a lot of compailains were made using this keyboard, a reserch was done and was found since user want to look at the screen when the want to type they were having trouble typing, so after many tries In 1972 Christopher Sholer made the "QWERTY" keyboard for IBM, the alphabets were arrange according to usage and power used by fingers

The QWERTY layout was designed so that successive keystrokes would alternate between sides of the keyboard so as to avoid jams. Some sources also claim that the QWERTY layout was designed to slow down typing speed to further reduce jamming. This design was developed in 1860.

Because back then when keyboards were first made people would type so fast that the old typewriters would break, so it was made with the intention of slowing down people so the typewriter wouldn't break, later even though typewriters became better we just kept it QWERTY because we were all used it to it by then.

It's arranges according to which letters are used the most. This helps you type faster.

Keyboard letters are not arranged alphabetically because whoever made it had it that way and have the letters arranged alphabetically would be interesting to try out.
