How do I switch my printer to print in black and white?

Didn't you know you have been using Bill Gates' Windows? In such case, you need to restart Windows else wait for a few hours until Windows finishes "deleting" that canceled print job. It is a flaw in Windows. When you print a document, the application sends print instructions to Spooler Service which handles printers. This service then spools the printable document and puts "Raw Print Data" in a folder which is usually "C:\Windows\system32\spool\drivers". That means the raw print data is kept in Windows directory while it should have been in a temporary folder. When you restart your Windows, that spool folder is emptied.

You might be using window XP. It takes longer to delete print command. Either Cancel the command many times or leave it for some time it will cancel the print other wise reinstall the printer driver.

depending on the size of the document, the cancell sometimes takes quite a while. To test your 'system', type a few words, clk print, then cancell. If this still takes a long time, there is something wrong. Go to www.hp.com and clk on the tech help link. HP offers free support for HP products even out of warranty. (email). You will have to submit the model and serial no.of your HP product.
